Elwood P. Dowd is a friendly, easy-going man who starts trying to introduce the townspeople to his 6â3â friend⦠an invisible rabbit. Not having any more of her brotherâs eccentric behavior, his sister tries to have him committed to a sanitarium, leading to unexpected mayhem and surprise interactions between all of the characters. Mary Chase received a Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Harvey in 1945. The play was turned into a movie in 1950 starring James Stewart.
