New Chairs for the Auditorium Fundraiser

Dear Members, Friends and Family of ACTORS,

As many of you may already know, we have started a fundraising effort to purchase new chairs for our auditorium to make our productions more comfortable for our patrons. ACTORS has been serving the Ames community for over 52 years, and our current chairs have been in place for nearly half of our existence. Many of you have commented they are not not only unsightly, but uncomfortable, and now that we have updated our theater with new risers, seating is a logical choice to focus on next.

For those of you not familiar with our current seating, you can see an example of the kind of chairs we currently have in the picture above. Notice the yellow and orange folding chairs in the upper right. While these may look fine from a distance, the padding has worn thin, and they are spotted with stains from performances gone by. Many patrons brush off the chairs before sitting, only to find the stains are well worn in.

ACTORS has a long history in the community and has provided entertainment and education for over half a century. That is a tremendous feat for community theaters. Our dedication to getting young people involved in theater and the arts has expanded tremendously even over the past 2 years with productions such as "Makin It" and "High School Musical." We are constantly striving to bring the arts to everybody in the community who wants to be a part of it. And now you can help us in that endeavor.

I am asking you to help us out by giving a tax-deductible donation to the Ames Community Theater, to help us raise money for the new auditorium seats. We work very hard to provide our five main stage performances every year, and I hope we can count on you for a generous donation of $50 or more. However, please note that any donation amount is always welcomed.

Thank you for your time and consideration in helping us reach our goal of $7,000 by May 1, 2008. We look forward to whatever support you can provide. If you are able to donate privately, please also check for matching funds through your employer. Many companies have matching programs which you may not be aware of.

If you require additional information about ACTORS, please contact me and I will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
