All About ACTORS - Your Community Theater

Starting with our first production of Charley's Aunt in December 1956, ACTORS, Inc. has been delighting audiences with high quality community theater.

Located at 120 Abraham Drive, Ames, Iowa, ACTORS owns and operates its own performance facility called the ACTORS Studio.  ACTORS also sometimes produces shows at other venues around the community.

ACTORS, Inc. productions have earned awards from the Iowa Association of Community Theatres and others. We are actively involved in many different contest venues and summer programs to promote our theater and the arts.

ACTORS is supported in part through local option tax funds provided by the City of Ames through the Commission on the Arts.

ACTORS and Service to the Community

ACTORS serves the Ames community by providing diverse opportunities to participate in the performing arts - on stage, backstage, in the audience, and in various support activities.   In any given year, over 4000 people see our shows, over 200 people make our shows happen, and over 150 people donate during our fundraising events.

ACTORS History

ACTORS has completed 50 seasons.  Our first president, Jim Okey, is still involved -- fifty years of continuous service. In 2006 we celebrated our Golden Anniversary with a Gala, five fullscale plays and two In-betweens, as well as a Downtown Celebration in October.
